About natural Ectoin®

  • Ectoin® is a natural ingredient and it was first isolated by a researcher, Professor Galinski from a bacteria named Ectothiorhodospira halochloris found in Wadi Natrun, Egypt.2,3
  • This bacteria is an “extremophile” and has the property to survive under extreme conditions like great heat or strong frost.

How natural Ectoin® works to protect your eyes from dryness?

The eye surface is protected by a tear-film. The tear-film is composed by different types of layers including lipids (fat), water, and mucins (proteins). The water layer forms the majority of the tear-film.

Structure Of Tear Film

With kind permission from Allergan

Ectoin® is a natural water-binding substance which helps to maintain the tear-film stability forming an hydrating shield around the eyes.

  • Ectoin® stabilises the tear-film
  • Ectoin® hydrates the tear-film
  • Ectoin® reduces inflammation
  • Ectoin® protects the eye surface
